Frozen Bridal Veil Falls

๐Ÿ“ Provo Canyon
A cold-snap drive

In the coldest stretches of winter the 600-foot falls freeze into blue and white ice columns. Utah County is rebuilding the park at the base in a project expected to run into 2027, so the lower lot and the trail at the base are closed or limited.

Tip: Check Utah County's project updates for open parking before you go.
๐Ÿ“
Local note: Everything here was free at last check. Light displays run seasonally, roughly mid-November into early January.

How to pick the right one

Split your free winter days by weather. On a clear night in November or December, the free light displays at Riverwoods, University Place and Salem Pond are an easy hour out. After a storm, take the kids sledding at Rock Canyon Park or the Peteetneet lawn while the snow is fresh.

On the cold gray days, head indoors. The BYU Museum of Art, the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum and the Springville Museum of Art are free to walk through and warm, and Roots of Knowledge at UVU's library is free to see. On the coldest week of the year, Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon can freeze solid, though construction at the base limits parking into 2027.
